Alliance Susan & Eric Smidt Technology High School is located in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood northeast of Downtown Los Angeles. The area is primarily home to Latino and Asian immigrant families.
Points of Pride
Since 2016 Alliance Smidt Tech has been recognized as a top high school by US News & World Report. Alliance Smidt Tech offers clubs and sports such as dance, music, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, cross country, girls volleyball and softball.
95% Latino, 2% Asian, and 1% African American/Black, 14% English Language Learners (ELL), 22% special education, and 99% free or reduced meal program participants.
Oscar Romero has spent over 14 years working as an educator. He was one of the founding teachers at Susan and Eric Smidt Tech High School and has spent nearly a decade serving the Lincoln Heights community. Later, Mr. Romero became a school administrator encouraging a positive school culture as the dean of scholars, and he also started the school’s athletic program. Before joining Alliance, Mr. Romero worked as an athletic director, department chair teacher, and teacher support provider at Wallis Annenberg High School/The Accelerated School in South Central Los Angeles. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Saint Mary’s College of California and a master’s degree in Education Administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills.
