Alan Arkatov is the President of Changing.edu, which works to effectively blend technology and entertainment content with high-quality education. He previously was the CEO of the Teaching Channel, and EVP and General Manager for Education at 2U, the President of the eEducation Group, and the Founder and Chairman of OnlineLearning.net, the leading online continuing education provider (later sold to Sylvan).
Mr. Arkatov has managed and guided some of the preeminent communications companies in the United States, and, as a political media consultant, helped produce the ads for over a dozen successful Mayoral, Gubernatorial, United States Senate and Presidential campaigns.
In addition to serving on California's State Board of Education, Mr. Arkatov was the Chairman of California's Post-secondary Education Commission, a United States Secretary of Education appointee to the Congressional Web-Based Education Commission, President of Los Angeles' Commission for Children, Youth and Their Families, and Chairman of the Los Angeles Information Technology Agency. He currently serves on the National Boards of Facing History and Ourselves, Road Trip Nation, Think Together, and the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce.
A happily retired concert violinist, Mr. Arkatov is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, and resides in Los Angeles with his wife, two sons, and their Labradoodle.
