About Alliance

Our History

Serving Los Angeles County for nearly 20 years, Alliance College-Ready Public Schools were founded on the belief that all children are capable of learning and achieving at high levels – regardless of their income level, ability, or socio-economic background.

Alliance is one of the largest, most successful nonprofit public school networks in the nation, with a scholar graduation and college acceptance rate over 95%.

Our schools are nationally-ranked, with intimate class sizes and specialized curriculum to suit the needs of our scholars and their communities. Alliance has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, the California Department of Education, the USC Rossier School of Education, and the U.S. News & World Report.

Our Approach

Alliance schools are community-driven and people-centered, strengthening their surrounding neighborhoods by providing families and educators with the highest quality public education. We focus on the social and emotional wellbeing of our scholars and staff, offer competitive teacher salaries and benefits, and personalize the educational and professional experience of every person in our network.

Why Choose Alliance?

In partnership with our local school communities, Alliance schools balance rigorous academics and college prep with a deep commitment to developing lifelong learners and community leaders.

With a proven track record of over 20,000 alumni, 95% of our scholars go on to graduate from high school and get accepted to college. Many of them are the first in their families to pursue post-secondary education.

Alliance values our educators and staff as valuable professionals. We invest in our people through professional development, socio-emotional support, competitive compensation packages. All of this translates into exceptional teaching and, by extension, exceptional learning.

Alliance prioritizes meeting scholars and staff exactly where they are. Together, we’ll build the educational or professional experience you need to reach your highest goals through a combination of innovation, collaboration, school autonomy, and a strong commitment to equity.

The Alliance network is a family of change makers. Over the last 20 years, our scholars, alumni, teachers, and staff have driven the future of education, connecting with elected officials and policymakers and speaking truth to power at school board, city council, and state and federal legislative sessions.

Alliance's commitment to building an anti-racist, pro-Black community

Alliance College-Ready Public Schools is committed to building an anti-racist, pro-Black community to improve equitable outcomes for all Black and Brown scholars, ensuring our scholars graduate “college ready” with pride in their racial, cultural, and personal identities.

Having a shared definition of what it means to be anti-racist, pro-Black will strengthen our ability as educational practitioners to take personal and institutional responsibility for the success of our scholars, critically reassess our own practices, and help us reach our ultimate aspiration of at least 75% of our scholars graduating from a four-year college or university.

What does Alliance mean by anti-racist?

Racism affects everyone, and in the United States, it’s rooted in anti-Blackness. Being anti-racist means taking radical action to dismantle racial prejudice, systemic racism, and the oppression faced by different racial groups. It’s about making conscious efforts to create equal opportunities for everyone, both individually and in our systems.

Anti-racism involves examining and acknowledging our own privileges, standing up against racial discrimination, and working to change our personal biases. It also means being aware of the historical and social context of exclusionary practices in American education.

Being anti-racist is about actively promoting fairness, equality, equity, and understanding among all people, regardless of their race or ethnicity. It’s a commitment to breaking down barriers and building a more inclusive and compassionate society for everyone.

What does Alliance mean by pro-Black?

To be pro-Black is to actively promote a positive and empowering narrative about Black culture and identity. It involves rejecting the harmful effects of systemic racism and anti-Blackness. Pro-Blackness celebrates the beauty, resilience, and power within the Black community and seeks to build strength and unity among and with Black people.

Being pro-Black does not mean being against any other racially minoritized group. Rather, it challenges the idea that “whiteness” is the only standard of beauty, worth, and way of being. By embracing a pro-Black stance, we contribute to lifting up all racially minoritized communities. At Alliance, we are committed to building an anti-racist, pro-Black community that embraces diversity across all lines.

We take pride in our diverse community where 95% of our scholars and nearly half of our staff identify as Latine. Building an anti-racist, pro-Black community highlights and uplifts the unique experiences and contributions of our Latine scholars and staff.

Our OneAlliance approach acknowledges and underscores the fundamental understanding that liberation for Black people signifies liberation for all. Through this collective recognition, we collaboratively strive to cultivate a society that upholds the principles of equity and justice for everyone.
