Alliance Neuwirth Leadership Academy is located in the South Park neighborhood of South Los Angeles. The area is primarily home to African American and Latino families. The community is mainly served by non-charter public high schools, many of which are low-performing and overcrowded.

Demographics and Average Daily Attendance

92% Latino and 7% African American, 15% English Language Learner (ELL) students, and 95% free or reduced meal program participants. Average daily attendance is 95%.

Principal Profile

Dean Marolla-Turner has been an educator for the past 25 years.  Prior to opening Alliance Neuwirth Leadership Academy in 2007,   Mr. Marolla-Turner served in numerous positions as a teacher and administrator in Long Beach Unified School District.  His wide-range of experience include educating adults in Teacher Credentialing Programs.  He possess a BA in Mathematics from University Center of New York at Binghamton and a MA in Mathematics from Cal State Dominguez Hills.  He was honored as Alliance Principal of the Year in 2013.
