Community

The school is in the heart of Watts, within walking distance of the Watts Towers. The surrounding community is home to mainly non-charter public high schools that are primarily low-performing and/or overcrowded.

Demographics and Daily Attendance

81% Hispanic and 19% African-American, 27% English Language Learner (ELL) Students, and 88% free or reduced meal program participants. To date, average daily attendance is 92%.

Principal Profile

Dr. Clarence Miller joined Alliance College-Ready Public Schools as principal of Alliance Cindy and Bill Simon Technology Academy High School (formerly College-Ready Academy High School #11) in June, 2011. He previously served as a school administrator at Long Beach Polytechnic High School, Spring High School In Spring Texas and Katy High School and Seven Lakes High School in Katy Texas. Prior to a career with Pacific Bell and Pacific Bell Directory, Dr. Miller served as a teacher, coach and guidance counselor in New York. As a student, he co-founded and later served as the first director of the educational opportunity program (Project New City) at the State University at Plattsburgh, New York where he developed his passion for working to educate students with limited opportunities for success. This passion was further fueled by work with migrant students during his tenure with the State Education Department of New York.  While completing a doctor of philosophy degree at the University of Texas, Austin, Texas, he served as director of Tutoring for Reading Improvement, Math Achievement and Counseling Services (TRI-MAC) a non-profit organization created to support minority students of the Austin Independent School District. He has a proven track record of success in working with special needs students and potential high school dropouts. Dr. Miller seeks to  provide  quality instruction and educational equality to all students regardless of circumstances.
