Parent Leadership Academy
Alliance students aren't the only ones engaged in homework, reading assignments, or lively learning discussions. Hundreds of their parents participate in classes during the school year to build their ability to support their children's academic achievement and personal development.

School-Parent Connection
Parent partners make Carlos Gutierrez proud. He is an Alliance Parent Liaison. Alliance schools have a Parent Liaison position designed to foster the relationship between parent and school. "We welcome parents, answer their questions, link teachers and parents together, explain our rules and processes," he explains. "Our parents tell me it helps to have me here."

Parents Voice Opinions
At Joint School Board
The agenda was full: Review of the upcoming Parent Satisfaction Survey, suggestions about physical education opportunities, plans for a new school building, additional recruiting strategies. At 8:00 a.m., the January meeting of the Alliance Joint School Board of Directors was called to order by President Judy Burton. Attending are the board members representing all Alliance schools — principals, assistant principals, teachers, and parents.

Alliance Parent Profile: Javier Lopez
"I'm proud that these Alliance schools are in my neighborhood and of what they do for my children and other students," wrote Javier Lopez recently. Mr. Lopez, who has children in two Alliance schools, almost daily turns that pride into action. He coaches the soccer team, helps the custodian, assists teachers, and attends more workshops and advisory meetings.

Johanna Martinez
"I thought you had to pay to get a good education for your children. So my daughter used to be in private school. Then I visited the Alliance's College-Ready Academy High School #5. I saw this charter school was teaching the same way they did in private school. So we enrolled Rosemary here," explains parent activist Johanna Martinez. "And it's been amazing for both of us."
