New Alliance Team Members
Jennifer Drake – Chief Development Officer
Calling her position with the Alliance “exhilarating,” Jennifer Drake brings years of successful fundraising experience to the new job, but says working for the Alliance is different. “I’ve had over twelve years experience with health-related nonprofits where progress is measured slowly. Here I see that we are making a difference in students’ lives every single day,” she explains. Her professional background in development, management, and communications includes service with leading national organizations including the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Cure Autism Now Foundation, and the Alliance for Stem Cell Research.
Ms. Drake observes that the Alliance has established a unique place among charter school organizations in a short period of time. “The Alliance is highly regarded not just for opening new high-quality schools, but also for focusing solely on the areas of Los Angeles where the need is greatest,” she says. “That sets us apart in a positive way.”
Jennifer Drake grew up in Arkansas and earned a BA in Psychology from the University of Arkansas, Little Rock. She’s lived in Los Angeles for more than a decade.
Ernest White - Director of Technology
With his strong background in applied technology, Ernest White brings a simple goal for Alliance
students. “Our students will not only survive, they will succeed in the world of technology and computers,” he explains. The computers and networking in Alliance schools and offices are his responsibility now. “I am moving fast all day long,” he says, “putting out technology fires, getting hundreds of new computers up and running, and making sure we are all connected.”
Mr. White, a native of North Carolina, came to the Alliance position from a career in printing, graphics, and editing via computers. It was there he sharpened his computer construction and repair skills. One of his hobbies is fixing or rebuilding computers for use in senior centers and residences for the elderly. “They like to use the technology just like everyone else,” he says. He pledges to introduce computer advantages such as online learning and new audio-visual skills to all Alliance schools as soon as he is certain that all existing technology equipment and users are up to speed. “I am also planning to help teachers build their tech skills,” Mr. White adds. “I want to hold seminars for them, so that they have the computer know-how to enhance their teaching.”
