Nearly 80% Pass CAHSEE
The latest results of the California High School Exit Exam placed the Alliance’s first class of tenth graders well on their way to high school graduation.
The 2006 exam scores are in, and those for the Alliance’s first class of tenth graders are impressive. Seventy-nine percent of the sophomore class at College-Ready Academy High School passed both sections of the mandatory California High School Exit Exam. “It shows that our students take academics seriously and our teachers take their work seriously,” said Principal Howard Lappin. “By next year, we’ll have 100% pass rate.”
California public school students are required to pass the Exit Exam by the time they finish their senior year in order to graduate. They can take the test multiple times to reach that goal, and many do. What pleases Alliance administrators, parents, and students is that three out of four College-Ready students have met that graduation requirement before they completed the tenth grade. Tutoring and intervention classes are being set up to help those who still must pass all or a section of the mandatory exam.
