Message from Frank E. Baxter
Chairman of the Board
Kudos to our management team, Judy, Howard, Parker, and our principals for getting four schools up and running this year. This is an accomplishment somewhere between merely remarkable and actually miraculous. Also in that category is the performance of College-Ready Academy High School under Howard’s leadership. To be one of the best performing high schools in town in the first year is truly amazing. It tangibly shows that our simple but not easy formula of great curriculum, small schools, local control, and high expectations does work and work very well.
Enough kudos. We do have serious challenges. Each of our schools is in a temporary facility, which must be replaced in the next few months. We have a plan for each school, but are short of money to execute them. Further, we would like to open at least three more schools next fall, but are encountering facilities challenges.
I appeal to all of my fellow citizens who care so much about the hundreds of thousands of kids who are getting a raw deal to help us find the money we need to move forward. We have a number of ways to help in addition to the outright gifts such as loans and donations of property.
Our supporters are at the top of my long gratitude list.
