Message from Judy I. Burton
President and CEO
The sizzle here at the Alliance has nothing to do with the summer temperatures. The momentum from the successes of the past school year has carried into our busy summer programs. Students are building strong academic skills now so that they can be better prepared for the upcoming 2007-08 challenges through summer bridge programs to strengthen math performance.
Next year is a benchmark year for the Alliance - with ten schools operating we’ll be half way towards our initial goal of 20 schools; our first graduating class will be going on to college; and our first school on a university campus will move to CSULA. The promise of the three new Alliance schools that will open in September is infectious, as is the move of our home office onto the Frank E. Baxter Education Complex. Working on the same campus as some of our students strengthens our resolve…and it’s more fun.
The Alliance is adding new staff members whom you will meet soon. They will be adding expertise in areas of instruction including professional development, special education and college counseling. The team is still small, but stronger in instructional support for our schools.
