Alliance CRMA 5 utilizes the Blended Learning for Alliance School Transformation (BLAST) education model, which provides each student with a laptop and uses a wide variety of technological tools to prepare them for success in college and future careers. 


  • The second year of operation showed an API increase of 42 points, the following year proved even more successful with a jump of 55 points
  • 2015-2016 reflects Alliance CRMA 5 continued growth and dedication by outperforming neighboring schools by nearly 10 percent based on the latest CAASPP scores for Engligh Language Arts


Alliance CRMA 5 is located in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood northeast of Downtown Los Angeles. Lincoln Heights is considered to be the oldest community in Los Angeles, and is home to many historic landmarks.  


95% Latino, 3% Other, 1% African American, and 1% White, 25% English Language Learner (ELL) students, 17% Special Needs Students, 93% free or reduced meal program participants.



A former Alliance Principal of the Year, Ms. Galvan is devoted to helping students reach their full potential. As the founding principal of Alliance Collins Family College Ready High School, she built what is one of the highest performing schools in California. Prior to joining the Alliance, Ms. Galvan was a successful middle school math and science teacher, English Language Learner resource teacher, and assistant principal for over a decade. For the past five years, she has used her expertise to help develop exemplary teachers through the formation of the Alliance Teacher Residency Program, and she has also supported the success of all Alliance schools as the Director of School Development and District Liaison.
